planning on the beach

from the last few meetings that we’ve had, the most occuring themes have to concern with a particular media agency, internal relationships with the client service team, and of course our clients. nothing out of the ordinary, but the interjections of nonsense and sporadic bursts of hysteria keep things lively.

i’ve got to say i was quite happy that we finally moved away from the langsuan area and infiltrated camp davis on sukhumvit 24. (even though meeting #9 was quite lovely, small and intimate, consisting of only jai, tee+ and myself and was held at krua nai baan. jai and i enjoyed delicious eye candy, while i believe tee+ secretly rolled his eyes at us drooling out of control)

back to soi 24, pola pola has decent food, the best thing about it was being able to draw on the paper table…er paper? tablecloth that is made of paper. we also enjoyed alcohol-infused ice cream at almatery–indeed one of the most ingenious ways to get inebriated.

on top of all our wonderful meetings, we have a strategist, ed, from naked communications london visiting us next week, and we have agreed that we should bring him to our favourite watering hole, shades of retro on thonglor, where we always get up to no good–which is always marvelous.

also with the upcoming asia pacific advertising festival aka adfest, there most likely will be the first ever planner club meeting outing to sex-infested seaside town of pattaya.

exciting.

pictures later from oakie or pikk?!

p.s. the 4-orgasm massage is called that “Leela Thai Aroma Massage” at Leela Thai Herbal Spa

i reccomend the sathorn branch ( top of Soi Narathiwat 7, Sathorn, Bangkok. Tel :
02.679.3511-2) and ask for Khun Oh the masseuse – she’s… addictive.

Kong Dee Sensual

welcome to our newest member, patrick from ogilvy action, who joined us for our 2nd kong dee nite– this time in the form of brownies.

sensual suan plu, the restaurant we were at is quite popular among adheads that work around the sathorn-narathiwas junction, so everybody was able to find it quite easily.

a smaller group this time, consisted of nune, oakie, tee+, patrick and myself. most of the focus was on dealing with media agencies, and oakie was able to give nune and myself a deeper insight on the working process.

as usual our conversations start with venting and we all behave much like a support group–though i reckon it’s not withdrawal we’re going through, much more like angst.

but because it was kong dee nite – to ring in the new chinese new year’s, the conversation quickly turned into light and embraceable topics that concerned much bitching but was mixed with hysteria and the occasional blacking out.

an early night, with no photos. but everybody managed to go home in one piece.

Meet #7 :: Post: Seminar + Coffee #6

sorry, not so single-minded.

just a real quick note on our next meeting:

When: Wed Thur 15 (Anytime you can come after work)
Where: Sensual Suan Plu Restaurant, Narathiwas Soi 15, Tel: 02.676.1653

i’ve been meaning to raise the topic about the recent “future of branding” seminar that was held at chula university last week.

so a quick breakdown, there were three main speakers, all talking on the topic of branding in thailand from three perspectives: the marketer, the advertising agency and the branding agency.

most of the bangkok coffee attendees also attended the seminar, which was really great, because we were able to touch on the subject lightly at last week’s coffee meeting. i think we all agreed that we enjoyed khun thana’s (marketing perspective) presentation the most–inspiring and gave me a mental note to start inviting clients to these type of seminars!

like oakie said below in regards of bangkok coffee, we’re slowly growing little by little. with the most recent meeting, our newest attendees are: jai – interactive planner from dentsu, and ant – planning manager from hakuhodo.

excellent.

Flying on the jet plane

Oh we hit 8 from 3 at the end of last year meeting. It’s a good sign, isn’t it? The gang meeting was started by the coincidence in arrival of Pip’s car and my car. Pip gave Nune and Ant a ride from office to Air Plane. Hesitatingly ordered some dishes, then Pikk joined with an itch to share. Tee pleasedly introduced a new comer, Jai – she is an interactive planner from Dentsu, then Ito-san from Hakuhodo accompanied.

Our flowable dialogues raced with those cars on the road besides us. It seemed sanitary napkins topic from last meeting was existed. Sharing included the suck and funny things in advertising agency as usual, how to utilize a planner effectively, client services’ gossip, reseach agencies, online stuffs – Youtube, internet, webboard, media agencies, and etc.

Welcome Ant and Jai for joining us, unfortunately, Ant have to go to Japan for trainning so we wouldn’t see her around for 5-6 weeks 😦 / Ant, pls keep reading this blog for updates, we will miss you.

Last but not least, Ito-san gave Pip a one love song. Is it Valentine’s coming? (just kidding)Coffee Evening #6 g
